WHS Hydroponics
Hydroponics is the process by which produce and other plants are grown in a water system, without soil. We are in the process of beginning this at WHS. We started in January, and by the end of March we will be producing between 35-54 heads of lettuce each week-as well as other greens-for the HS Cafeteria. We use all organic water from our Trout Hatchery, to help fertilize the plants, and when we do not have that source we use other organic fertilizers. The process from seed to harvest is about 8-9 weeks. Our goal is to produce all of the lettuce, and other produce needed for the highschool cafeteria on a weekly basis. In doing so, we will be spreading awareness of the benefits of organic gardening.
